What is Fitler Moms?
A Philadelphia native, an attorney, and a mother of two little ones, Crystal Axelrod started Fitler Moms in 2019 with a simple goal in mind-- to create a network of moms in the small Fitler Square neighborhood of Philadelphia that was accommodating to working mothers. It began with Saturday morning coffee at our local pub and evolved into family meetups, kids' classes at our local park, and a even parents' night out comedy event.
"Becoming a mother can be an isolating experience. It helps to be reminded that we're not going through it alone." It once took a village to raise a child; today, it takes a support network. Most of us live far from our closest friends and family. We often rely on technology and social media to connect with others, which can leave us feeling even more isolated. We lack real, human interactions with our peers. The mission of Fitler Moms has always been to create a supportive community for parents where we need it most-- right in our own neighborhood.

What is MomConnect?
Prompted by the increased importance of social connection during Covid, we began holding virtual meetups, which drew moms from all over the city, and MomConnect was born. MomConnect is a larger Philly-based organization with the same mission-- to help moms and moms-to-be easily connect with other like-minded women who live near them. We offer in-person and virtual meetups, Q&As with family experts, classes, and events-- all designed to create a space for connecting with others. MomConnect meetups and events are open to all Philly moms with a secure login. Subscribed Community Members are eligible for additional benefits and resources, including full access to our app with a member directory, online forum, hyperlocal neighborhood chat groups, New Mom Squads, shared resources, and more.
